You can be married in the church if you live in the parish, are on the electoral roll, or have a connection that qualifies you - for example if your parents worshipped here. The Church of England has recently updated its guidance on where you can marry, and this gives couples a lot more choice of where they make their commitment to each other. To find out more and discover if you have a Qualifying Connection, you can contact the Priest in Charge FUNERALSNot everyone knows that they have the right to a funeral in their parish church, even if they and the dead person have not been church-goers. Nor do practising Christians always realise that they can have a Communion service as part of the funeral.
The main part of the service takes place in the church and then we either go to the Cemetery or Crematorium for the short service of Committal. Some families prefer the whole service to take place in church, with just the minister accompanying the coffin to the Crematorium. It is possible to have the funeral service at the Crematorium only, conducted by one of the parish clergy |
We are delighted to welcome all those who wish their children to start their Christian journey by being baptised.
Baptism is offered to those who live in the parish, whose parents are on the church's electoral roll or attend services and are familiar with the approach to worship at this church. Baptisms take place by arrangement. Adult Baptism In the normal course of events adult baptism is linked with the person's Confirmation as a member of the Christian faith. For further details, please speak to a member of the clergy team. CONFIRMATIONConfirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which you affirm for yourself the faith into which you have been baptized and your intention to live a life of committed discipleship.
This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands by the confirming bishop. The Church also asks God to give you power through the Holy Spirit to enable you to live in the way of Jesus. The vicar may invite you to attend a confirmation course. This is a good way to explore your faith and is a safe place to ask any questions you have about God, Jesus and the journey of faith. |
